    logged out whilst importing new contacts

    So uploading new contacts using import and method decided to log me out after 10 minutes so half didnt get imported. When I tried to log back in to finish the import my browser timed out as something in method keeps slowing down my browser, so now have some contacts imported and others not. I can figure out the last one imported and start a new import from there but you may want to stop automatic log out during import. My internet is bad today so that probably didnt help, but I am sure others might come across same problem.

    I have noticed when using method my browser does freeze every so often for about a second. I am using firefox, but it is rather annoying.

    Got error below on second attempt to import contacts. Everything was good apart from it found a few names that were identical, so went to 'Fix Errors' and changed the names slightly to make them unique and the error below came up

    Server Error in '/MethodImpex' Application.

    Runtime Error

    Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.

    Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".

    <!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

    <configuration>
        <system.web>
            <customErrors mode="Off"/>
        </system.web>
    </configuration>

    Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's <customErrors> configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.

    <!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

    <configuration>
        <system.web>
            <customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" defaultRedirect="mycustompage.htm"/>
        </system.web>
    </configuration>

    Re: logged out whilst importing new contacts

    Hi Ben,

    Sorry for the issues you are running into.  Could you email me your account name, the file you are importing and the table and columns your using?

    As for logging you out, that is a setting that you can change.  Go to Customize > My Account and under User Password Preferences, you can change the idle time.  This determines how long Method can stay idle before it logs you out.

    Answer

    I managed to get it to work after I figured out how far the import had gone and refreshed everything.

    Do you still need the info for the slowing down issue?

    Hi Ben,

    No that won't be necessary. The slow down could have happened for any number of reasons including an issue with the browser or internet speed.  If this continues, you can try a different browser and see if that helps.
