There are several options to consider when developing an application using Method.
- Will your customers pay subscription fees to you or to us?
- Will you keep or remove the "Powered By Method" branding on your application?
- Will your customers contact you or our staff for technical support?
- Will customers be permitted to customize their editions, or wait for updates from you?
- Will your customers use our Method Consultants for training and customization, or will they be receiving those services from you?
- Do you want to apply to have your application listed in the Method Edition Directory, or hidden?
Here are some examples:
Franchise example - John Smith from ACME Franchises chooses Method as the application of choice for his franchisees. He has a customized version of Method created specifically for the needs of his franchise. John's interest is not to earn income from sales of his Method application; it is to make sure his franchisees have a streamlined and efficient business system. Therefore, his franchisees use pay subscription fees to us, use our technical support, and use our Method Consultants for training.
A second income example - Amy runs ACME Security Monitoring. A Method edition for her industry did not exist, so she customized the Field Services edition to meet her needs. After realizing how valuable her customized version was to her company, she decided to start selling her solution to other companies in her industry as a secondary source of income. Amy gets her application listed in the Method Application Library, sells her solution to companies she knows from her local trade association, and collects subscription fees directly from her customers. Since she is busy running her security company, she has her customers contact us for technical support, training and customization.
Existing software company example – ACME Warehouse Solutions has been in business for years, and has thousands of companies using their Desktop installed application. A significant percentage of their customers are requesting either a web-based application, QuickBooks integration, or company-specific customization. To solve this very complex business problem quickly, effectively with minimal costs, ACME Warehouse Solutions chooses to develop an application based on the Method Platform rather than coding their own solution from scratch. They remove all "Powered by Method" branding from their customized edition, and sell their new solution to their customers as they would had they developed in any traditional development environment.
