Sub-customer feature
Solution No. 237
This article explains the limitations with using the sub-customer option in Method CRM vs QuickBooks Online.
Resolution
Users can create customers and make them sub-customers to a current customer (Parent). However if you edit an existing customer to make it a sub-customer or associate it to a different parent customer, this will not work and must be done in QuickBooks Online. This is due to a limitation with the QuickBooks Online API, and it doesn’t affect only Method, it affects all other third party apps. So just keep in mind when creating a customer in Method, if you know it has a parent customer then select it during the creation process, otherwise you’ll need to edit it in QBO.
Creating a sub-customer in Method
- Click Customers Incoming > New Customer.
- Enter the customer details then click the Add Additional Info? Checkbox.
- Click the This customer is a sub-customer? checkbox, then select the parent customer and click Save.
Editing a sub-customer in QBO
- In QBO, click Clients > Client Center.
- Select the customer which you wish to make a sub-customer and click Edit.
- Click the This client is a sub-client? Checkbox, then select the parent customer and click Save.
