    Ipad or Android?

    Hi,

I just signed up for Method and would like your opinion on which tablet will work best with Method, specifically for your Field Services?  The carrier is Verizon.  Many thanks, Colleen

    Hi cfupham,

All tablets on the market work with Method so you can go with whichever tablet your Verizon carrier has in its supply.

    I hope that this helps.

    Hi cfupham,

I just wanted to give you an update on that response. The tablet that you purchase from your carrier needs to support normal browser behaviour and you also need to log into Method using the "Mobile Sign-In" link on the Method log-in page.

    I hope that this helps.

I am using a Droid3 smart phone from VZ and its been working great. No issues. Havent tried the Iphone.  And make sure you use the mobile login.  I tried to use the regual log in page from the iphone and the moto tablet and it did not work at all.

Mobile version seems to offer much much less than reg Method. Can it be tweaked to show the calendar, for instance?  Is an app for ipad2 coming?  I'd like it to be more robust than what I am seeing in the mobile version so far.

ok so i just bought the ipad 2 killer JUST for doing presentations and quotes in the field using method.  just to be clear i'm speaking of the asus optimus prime running Icecream sandwhich android 4.0  and i was completely embarrased tonight when method was basically useless i'd go to type in a box and it would create another box at the top of the screen that i was typing in , then i would try to click to the next box and it would basically freeze, wouldn't select that new box and my text would be missing from what i just typed... is there a special browser i need to download that method works better in? i'm praying that now that i have a $550 tablet quad core processor i'm not about to find out it's all for nothing.  I finally had to litterally give up and told her i'd email her... SAD Also why isn't your mobile page out of the box working with the quotes screen?

From what i have gathered and i have tested you cant use reg method in a  tablet.  For me it never worked. You have to use the mobile version on the tablet. Now i could be wrong....but out of the box from ATT and Verizion, it never worked.  The computer guy from Sony toled me this. "Think of a tablet computer as a very big smart phone.  Its not a full computer so you cant load computer programs on your tablet unless the program is made for that tablet or is a app for that tablet."  I was going to get a tablet from Verizion. I logged into method reg screen...it loaded up but then it just stopped.  So then i tried the mobile method and it was great.  I am looking at a windows table made by Motion computer...its rugged but its 900.00

    MisterBill -

I'm sorry to hear your experience.  The last thing we want is for you to have a bad experience, especially in front of a customer.

As John mentioned, we target tablets with our mobile sign in and mobile-optimized screens, rather than the regular sign in.  In the sign in page, look for the Mobile link at the bottom (or short cut is www.miurl.cc/m).  Also, on the next publish in a few weeks, you'll have the Intuit Account and Google Apps sign in links available too on the mobile page - the easier to sign in, the better.

Currently there is an Estimate screen available out of the box for you to do mobile quotes on - and mobile screens can be customized in a similar way to regular screens (but there are a few constraints, like not being able to show a screen in a popup).

While you can do the essentials on the mobile version (create an estimate, add line items, email it, etc.)...... the mobile version of Method is constrained.  We know this.  We already have a project underway to really expand the flexibility of the user interface and user experience of the mobile version - and eventually take advantage of some of the mobile's native hardware.  I don't have a timeline for this, but when we are ready we'll be looking for early adopters and feedback.
