What is Responsive Design?
Solution No. 48

Once you get used to the layout of SaaSphalt, you might be thinking to yourself, “Well, yeah this works fine on my office computer, but my workforce isn’t going to be sitting in front of a keyboard and monitor. They will be out in the field.”  Well, you shouldn't worry about that. Because SaaSphalt was born from the mind of a former crew leader and office manager, we understand that not everyone is going to be accessing the computers from similar devices. This is why all of SaaSphalt’s screens use Responsive Design.

What is Responsive Design?
Responsive Design is basically what it sounds like. It is a way of designing a website that responds to any changes that may occur in screen size; whether it be from adjusting the screen on your computer or using a mobile device. The design even adjusts to any change in orientation when you turn your mobile or tablet device.

Well, duh. Why wouldn't everyone use this?

Originally, websites were designed around home/office computer usage. Then, as tablets and mobile devices became a bigger market, companies started designing separate websites available for the smaller devices. These websites often restricted the content that was available from the full website, and as a result you often weren't able to use many of the features that you could on your desktop computer. And, even worse than that, those who didn't design a separate website for mobile access often required copious amounts of scrolling and sometimes even cut off some of the page. So, at best you had limited access, at worst you had a horrible clunky experience (that often times also didn't allow full access).

As the mobile and tablet market became bigger (and the devices became more powerful) larger companies began to realize that they were losing money by restricting full access to their website to the growing market. So, web designers began creating websites using responsive design to allow the mobile user full and easier access to the website. Nowadays, this might seem like a no-brainer to design a program to do this; what with so many people using their mobile devices to do everything, but there are still many companies scrambling frantically to adjust their websites and programs to follow this format.

SaaSphalt has implemented this design from the beginning, so that no matter what device you are working from (desktop, laptop, tablet, or mobile - or any others that might appear in the future), you’ll receive the same quality experience every time.
