Setting up field services

So you've decided to check out the Field Services app - great idea! If you're in a field services industry you'll be thrilled with the added flexibility and functionality this app will add to your Method experience. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to download and install the app right inside Method itself. Here we go!

  1. From Method CRM, click on Customize > My Account.
  2. Scroll down to the section marked Add apps from the Method Application Library.
  3. Find Method Field Services for QB Desktop and click on Add this App. This will generate additional information in this section.
  4. The uploader gives you the option to either allow Field Services to create its own tab group for Field Service Operations and Mobile Users within your hover menu, or for you to add them to an existing tab group. Choose the option that works for you from the drop down menu.
    TIP: If you allow Field Services to create a new tab group, you will need to add users to that tab group by going to Customize > Tab groups and clicking Edit, which will allow you to add users from a pre-existing list.
    TIP: If you choose to add Field Services to an existing tab group (such as CRM), you will want to double-check which screens have been added as a result of the amalgamation. You don't want to accidentally give your users access to screens they shouldn't have!
  5. Click Add app now to begin the installation process. It will take some time to upload all 19 new screens, so feel free to stretch your legs and get a coffee!
  6. Once the installation is complete, navigate to your Hover menu and, depending on how you chose to upload the application in step 4, click on either the newly-created Field Services Operations tab group, or click on the tab group to which you chose to associate Field Services. Three tabs should be available in either case: Field Service Center, QuickBooks, and Customize. The latter two will not appear if you've amalgamated Field Services into an existing Tab Group, because they're already there and have the same options available.Once you're on your Field Service Center tab, you will automatically land on the Dashboard tab link, and from there you can get started!
